Q: Why do I see a login dialog when I click on the Photos link on the ABC website?
A: The club voted and decided that all photo gallery content will be for club members only. So you have to register and then login to see or add any content.

 

Q: I went through the registration page and filled everything out... now what?

A: Wait a couple of minutes and then check your email account you put in the registration page. You should have a new email from ABCPhoto@(at)auburnboatclub.com that looks like:

Your username is: <your Username>

 

To finish the registration process please click the following link:

Q: How do I upload pictures?

A: There are several ways to upload photos. You can upload them using the WindowsXP web publishing wizard or from your web browser. There are also several other methods that you can use, but they beyond the scope of this FAQ.

WindowsXP Web Publishing Wizard

To share photos by this method it takes a few steps to setup and then from that point on you can use a simple wizard to publish your photos.

Setup steps

1.      Login the ABC Photo Gallery, open the "At the Lake" gallery

2.      Right click the mouse on the blue background under the text on the left edge of the webpage. As shown by the circle below

3.      In the Actions menu that appears, click the Add Items menu item

4.      In the window that opens up click on the Windows XP tab.

 

 

 

 

 

5.      Follow the instructions on the page. Right click on the file and select save target as...

 

 

6.      When you are downloading the file, save it as install_registry.reg on your desktop.

 

7.      Once the file is downloaded, minimize your web browser and double click the install_registry.reg file you just downloaded. The icon on your desktop should look like...

 

 

8.      When you double click the file you may receive a warning such as

 

If you do, click the Run button.

 

9.      Click the Yes Button on the next dialog that appears asking if you want add the information to the registry.

 

10.  Click OK on the dialog that appears next

 

11.  You are now done with the setup. You should not need to do this again on this computer

 

Upload Photos with Web Publishing Wizard
(This is the process you will do the next time you want to upload photos)

12.  Open a Windows Folder that has the photos you would to share.

13.  a. If you are using Kodak EasyShare you can easily get to the desired folder by browsing to a album and then click File then click Open Album in Explorer ( or something equivilant)

14.  Then click the Publish this Folder to the Web link on the left side of the window

15. 

16.  A new window will open. Click the Next > button

17. 

18.  Select the pictures you want to upload, Click Next >

19.  Select the ABC Photo Gallery from the list of places to publish the photos to. Click Next >

20.  Select the Album you want to upload the photo(s) to. Click Next >

21.  Select the upload options as shown below. Click Next >

22.  Decide if you want to limit the size of the photo(s) uploaded. Depending on your connection speed - Dialup vs DSL - You may want to choose to limit your photos to 1024x768. But it is up to you...

23.  Watch your photos be uploaded to the ABC Photo Gallery. This may take quite a while

24.  Wait for the finish dialog... Then click finish.

 

 

25.  You have successfully uploaded your photos and they are shared for the club to see.

 

 

Q: How can I use my Web Browser to Upload Pictures?

A: Follow the instructions listed below.

Decide what category the picture should go in:

• At the Lake
• Off the Lake
• Your personal album

Once you have decided, click on the picture above that album.

 

If you are adding to At the Lake or Off the Lake, click on the photo above the year your picture was taken and then when you are in that gallery, click the actions link ( in the upper left corner of the page) or right click anywhere on the webpage and then click "Add Items" in the menu that shows up.

 

If you want to add a picture to your personal gallery click on the My Album link in the upper left of the web page, click the actions link ( in the upper left corner of the page) or right click anywhere on the webpage and then click "Add Items" in the menu that shows up.

 

Once you have clicked "Add Items", a new webpage will appear. Click the browse button to locate a picture you want to share and then enter a description in the caption field.

 

Repeat this as many times as you like, making sure that you do not upload more than a total of 10 MB (Megabytes) and that any one file is not more than 8 MB.

 

Once you have chosen all of the pictures you wish to upload, you can optionally select how you want the picture title to appear. It is set from the list box next to the "Set item titles from:" text about half way down the page.

 

Scroll down the page then click Add Items button... WAIT until the web page changes and tells you "Successfully added (some number) files". THIS MAY TAKE A FEW MINUTES to a LONG WHILE... you are uploading to the server... PLEASE BE PATIENT!!

 

Once you are done uploading, click on the link for the album in the upper right hand portion of the page.
